SUMMARY:CANCELLED-The International Conifer Conservation Programme-The Kibble Lecture

Martin’s work has taken him to over 30 countries in order to study and collect research materials of threatened conifers and their associated species. Particular geographical areas of interest include New Caledonia and Latin America. For this conservation work\, especially on Chilean plants\, Martin have been awarded an MBE in 2013 and the Veitch Memorial Medal by the Royal Horticultural Society in 2014. \nThis is an event for The Friends of Glasgow Botanic Gardens but as always we welcome new members and guests to all events. \nTHIS EVENT IS CANCELLED

SUMMARY:Connect with The Indigo Plot at the Botanics\, help planting our Japanese Indigo and Woad plants
DESCRIPTION:About this event\n\n\n\nThe Indigo Plot at the Botanics is a new project by Textile artist\, Natural dyer and Indigo lover Elisabeth Viguie Culshaw in the grounds of the Glasgow Botanical Garden. \nTHIS EVENT IS WEATHER DEPENDANT CHECK YOUR EMAILS ON THE MORNING IN CASE POOR WEATHER FORCES US TO ABORT OR RESCHEDULE \nElisabeth at the Botanics and a group of 24 Scottish home growers will be growing this summer some Japanese Indigo (Persicaria Tinctoria) and some Woad (Isatis Tinctoria) to investigate the process of growing and using the pigment in a serie of workshops and sharing events. In order to start the growth we must put the plants into ground this is a joyful moment. \nOn the 4th of June\, Elisabeth and some of her volunteers will put the small plants into ground and sharing information around the project during a 2 hours session. (weather permitting). If the weather is great we may even dye small samples of fabric. \nJapanese Indigo has a fast growth and there will be some sharing sessions during the summer to learn to dye with the Indigo. \nThis project is aimed at giving all natural dye lovers\, textile lovers and Eco process addicts a sense of connection between the colour around us and its provenance. \nThe Indigo plot will have a two years life and during that time Elisabeth will share around her knowledge of Natural dyes and plants via regular sessions live or on zoom. Her own textile practise runs regular workshops and events on the use of Natural dyes. \nTo join in this low key (but connective event) please book a free space using this link… \nYou can also join our FB group to keep up to date with the project. https://www.facebook.com/The-Indigo-Plot-at-the-Botanics-100479995960184
