Index Seminum Page (2021 update)

As the UK has left the EU and with the resulting increase in costs for issuing Phytosanitary Certificates and inspections we regret we are unable to participate with the International Plant Exchange Network Index Seminum programme in the normal way

We are hopeful that exemptions or assistance to cover the cost may eventually be forthcoming but at the moment 29/01/21, the Index Seminum is open to UK Gardens only

Terms and Conditions of Use

Seed and spores, hereafter referred to as ‘items’, are supplied on the condition that they are cultivated for the common good, benefiting areas of conservation, display, education and scientific research within botanical gardens and research institutions.

Please Note: We are limiting the numbers this year to 20 items per batch.

Please remember to input a contact email or postal address.

Any commercial use or transfer of items, including its products or derived resources, to a third party with commercial intentions will require the permission of Glasgow Botanic Gardens (the Gardens) and a separate agreement.

All items listed are subject to terms and conditions of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (1975) and the Convention on Biological Diversity (1992). It is expected that botanic gardens and research institutions acquiring plant material from the Gardens will also act in the spirit of the aforementioned conventions. Terms and conditions assigned to an item by the original source may also apply.

Items are the result of open and controlled pollination therefore hybridisation may have occurred. The Gardens cannot guarantee items are verified.

The following order form utilises botanical nomenclature which is consistent with our collections at the Gardens and The Plant List.

The names in brackets represent the original source of the plant and more details on the provenance can be ascertained by requesting source information relating to the IPEN number. All of the seed on the2019/2020 list is collected at Glasgow from plants of Garden Origin.

Botanical gardens and research institutes requesting material must be either members of the International Plant Exchange Network (IPEN), and utilise items in accordance with the IPEN Code of Conduct (2003).

(If you are not a registered member of IPEN then you must complete the agreement on the supply of living plant material for non-commercial purposes leaving the Network. The IPEN form is available by clicking here and completed agreements can be submitted to andrew.sinclair2[at]Glasgow.gov.uk.)

Please note that the submission of forms/requests does not represent a contract to supply.

Please remember to input a contact email or postal address.
