The Library
Glasgow Botanic Gardens holds an impressive collection of resources available to staff, students, researchers and members of the Friends.

The Collections
There are over 2,600 items in the main collection, over 150 in the special collections and a range of periodicals, including Curtis’s Botanical Magazine, dating back to 1787!
About the Librarian
The Friends funded the creation of a digital inventory for the collection in 2019, led by librarian Rob Westwood and housed on the online library TinyCat.
You can read a 2020 interview with Rob about the project on LibraryThing.
Access
The library is primarily a reference resource for those working directly with the Gardens, and for botanical or horticultural students and researchers. It can also be hired for meetings subject to approval by the Gardens’ general manager.
If you would like to request an item from the library, please make an enquiry to the Friends’ Secretary in the first instance.
